Monica Ceniceros has been creating art since she can remember, and after moving to Austin from Mexico, she found her way into the local art scene by building community through atxGALS. She’s spent the last several years crafting what she once wished existed: an elevated space for women artists to be seen and celebrated. Monica’s work centers on visibility and representation for women and nonbinary artists who deserve both. atxGALS and The Cathedral were born from that belief, bringing immersive exhibitions into spaces that break the mold of the traditional gallery. Since opening its doors, The Cathedral has been voted one of Austin’s top three places to see art and Best Night Art Events. Monica says, “The artists, and the community we’ve built around them is what keeps me going. Every time I watch someone discover their next favorite artist — or see an artist step into their moment — I remember why this matters.”
