Correction Process
When a factual error is identified — whether by a reader, a source, or our own editorial team — we correct it as quickly as possible. Corrections are noted at the top or bottom of the original article with the date it was updated and a brief description of what was changed.
We do not silently edit articles without disclosure. If a correction materially changes the meaning or substance of a story, we will note it clearly so readers understand what was updated and why.
EASTside does not remove articles from our archive unless there is a significant legal or ethical reason to do so. Our preference is always to correct and update in place rather than delete.
Editorial Independence
EASTside Magazine’s editorial decisions are made independently of our advertising and business relationships. Advertisers do not have influence over story selection, coverage angles, or corrections. Sponsored and partner content is always clearly labeled.
If you believe our coverage has been influenced by an outside party, we encourage you to contact us directly. We take these concerns seriously.
What we stand for
EASTside Magazine was founded in 2015 with a clear mission: to tell authentic, community-first stories about East Austin. We cover the people, places, businesses, art, food, and culture that make this neighborhood unlike anywhere else in Texas.
We write for East Austin residents, newcomers, and anyone who loves this community. We believe local journalism matters — and that the stories of our neighbors deserve to be told with care, accuracy, and genuine respect.
EASTside is a women-owned, independently operated publication. We are funded through advertising and sponsored content partnerships, and we are proud to have maintained editorial independence since day one.
