6 Best {Dog-Friendly Patios}

Furry Friends Welcome

Words by Sam Lauron

It’s no secret that Austin is, overall, a dog-friendly city. There are countless places to bring the pups, from parks and trails to restaurants and bars, especially those with patios. The ingredients for a dog-friendly patio include plenty of space, a shaded area, and a casual atmosphere that’s comfortable enough for dogs and people alike.

Easy Tiger
This bakeshop and beer garden opened a second location last December at The Linc, and its spacious patio is the perfect spot to bring the pups. The Linc location serves up the infamous baked goods, sausages, beer, and coffee that Easy Tiger is known for, but in a much larger space than the original 6th Street location. The covered patio offers plenty of room for dogs to hang out and enjoy the friendly company of fellow canines and their owners.

Zilker Brewing Co.
Head over to this urban brewery in the heart of East 6th for a brew with your pup. The easygoing atmosphere calls for a glass of seasonal beer, water for the dogs, casual conversations across the picnic tables, and maybe even a fried chicken sandwich from the onsite food truck, Spicy Boys. There’s even something for pets in their merchandise section: a Zilker Brewing dog collar in their signature pattern that can be seen on the Marco IPA cans.

Sour Duck Market
Sour Duck Market is the ideal spot to grab a coffee and a baked good after a morning stroll with the dogs. The sister restaurant to Odd Duck and Barley Swine opened last year with the intention of being an everyday restaurant and offers similarly elevated food in a fast-casual environment. The spacious outdoor patio is a warm and welcome space that’s suited for the whole family, dogs included.

Vida Pura
Looking for an afternoon pick-me-up? Swing by Manor Road’s recently opened juicery, Vida Pura, where both you and your dog can hydrate. The wide open outdoor space includes a covered patio, which is essential to staying cool during the Texas heat. Vida Pura also welcomes their furry guests with filtered water, treats, and doggie bags.

Cherrywood Coffeehouse
Time spent at a casual coffeehouse is always a good idea. It’s even better when your furry family members can join in the fun. Cherrywood Coffeehouse warmly welcomes dogs to their patio and even leaves water bowls out so they can stay hydrated throughout their stay. Paired with their lively music performances, you and your dog are in for a treat.

Contigo
After spending time running around Mueller Lake Park with the pup, head to nearby Contigo to enjoy a ranch-style meal al fresco. The spacious outdoor dining area is a pet-friendly space that feels like the backyard of a close friend. Dogs can relax beneath the long wooden tables, the perfect spot to be if they’re hoping to snag a dropping of the hearty dishes served here.
