Rosewood Neighborhood

Words Ainsley Gaines & Ashley Bowling

The Rosewood neighborhood hugs the curves of the Boggy Creek Greenbelt, where mini-parks, bike trails, community gardens, and mural moments keep things feeling delightfully alive. Stretching from Manor Road down to Webberville Road and East 7th, this pocket of East Austin packs a lot into its green land.

Fuel up at Love Supreme or Bird Bird Biscuit, cool off at Rosewood Park’s splash pad and pool, or shoot some hoops at Delores Duffie Recreation Center’s indoor gym, then wander over to Webberville Food Truck Park for caffeine and carbs, courtesy of Desnudo Coffee, Kerlaches, and Veracruz All Natural. Rosewood is equal parts outdoorsy and artsy, and honestly, it’s the dream.

Rosewood Park
A 13.9-acre community park just two miles east of downtown, Rosewood Park has been a neighborhood staple since 1929. With a playground, splash pad, large pool, pickleball and tennis courts, it’s a go-to-spot for families and friends looking to enjoy the outdoors. Every year, the park hosts a Juneteenth festival featuring food and local vendors, bringing community, culture, and history together in one beautiful greenspace.

Using fresh fruit blended with creamy vanilla ice cream, Zed’s serves up one of the freshest sweet treats around. Whether you create your own or go with the flow, there’s good reason a line forms early at Zed’s. zedsicecream.com, 1814 Harvey St.

Grab one with a classic spread, or go for a build your own or specialty sandwich. rockstarbagels.com, 1900 Rosewood Ave.

Millennium Complex
Think of Millennium as Austin’s all-in-one playground with 55,000 square feet of bowling lanes, roller skating, arcade games, food, and a newly renovated cinema that’s screening cult classics and indie favorites (and yes, you can rent it out for a private party). It’s equally perfect for a family day or a low-pressure group hang. With four flexible event spaces and a movie theater you can claim as your own, Millennium makes “Where should we go?” an easy answer. millenniumaustin.com, 1156 Hargrave St.
