#1: Fiji
“Bula!” You’ll often hear this friendly greeting when traveling to Fiji, where happiness is pretty much a guarantee. Imagine 333 islands to discover, world-class snorkeling and diving in the soft coral capital of the world, and some of the friendliest people on earth, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a vacation. The Rainbow Reef is the pinnacle of Fiji diving, and there’s something for all skill levels. I will never forget the chance encounter I had with an elusive manta ray in the middle of the day.
While Fiji is a paradise for ocean lovers, there is so much more to do. From chasing waterfalls to fishing to visiting remote villages with a local guide to visiting the only spot on land that straddles the International Date Line, there’s truly something to suit all interests.
I was so excited when Fiji reopened its borders to international travelers in December, a sign they had reached over 85% vaccination rate. It’s about time I find myself on a castaway island with a private picnic on a serene beach. Maybe this time I won’t call to be picked up.
