Meet Jody Rivera, the founder of Swamp Mermaid Beauty Project, and her husband, Chris Turner. Jody, who began her career in New York before settling in Austin 23 years ago, has built Swamp Mermaid into a unique space known for its artistry, culture, and commitment to clients. Offering hair services, cosmetic tattooing, and now introducing laser tattoo removal, Swamp Mermaid is constantly evolving to meet the needs of its clients. Chris, originally from Columbus, Ohio, is her support system and partner in life, bringing his years of barbering experience to the Swamp Mermaid team while preparing to launch his own brand, Guardian Barber, in the spring. Together, they’re building a community that’s all about creativity, connection, and welcoming new clients into the Swamp Mermaid family.
