2020 marks the beginning of a new decade which means it’s time to celebrate in a big way. Whether you’re in the mood for a grand celebration or an elevated dinner, East Austin provides plenty of festive events for the special occasion.

SLAY SOIREE at The Cathedral 

atxGALS and 365 Things Austin are teaming up to host Slay Soiree, a New Year’s Eve art event. Hosted in a refurbished 1930s church, the festivities will include an open bar, all-you-can-eat tamales, and plenty of art on display. Following a midnight toast, guests can dance the night away to the sounds of a live DJ. In addition to ringing in the new year, the event will celebrate 365 Things Austin’s 10th anniversary. Tickets start at $75, and a portion of proceeds will benefit Girls Empowerment Network.

9th Annual New Year’s Eve Party at Contigo 

Gather ’round the table at the longtime Austin staple, Contigo. The restaurant is hosting its ninth annual New Year’s Eve party with festivities that include a welcome cocktail followed by an open bar, buffet-style food, campfires, and dancing. At midnight, guests can partake in a champagne toast and cap off the evening with farewell tacos. Tickets are $125 per person.

Out of This World: New Year’s Eve at Native Hostel 

Escape to another galaxy at Native Hostel’s Out of This World New Year’s Eve party. Native Hostel is transforming into an otherworldly space for the night, complete with aerial performers, a full DJ lineup, and an open bar. Tickets start at $100 for general admission while varying levels of VIP tickets come with access to private rooms, bars, and more.

New Year’s Eve at Suerte

Begin your night with a seven-course meal at Suerte before heading to the late-night parties. For $100 per person, guests can enjoy a curated tasting menu from Chef Fermín Núñez that includes botanas, dinner courses, and dessert. There is also an optional $50 beverage pairing.

Keep it Quiet Presents: The NYE Party

Welcome the roaring ‘20s with a Great Gatsby-themed party at Fair Market. Presented by local production company, Keep it Quiet, the night will consist of an open bar, food from Salvation Pizza, along with plenty of dancing and photo-worthy moments. Attendees are encouraged to dress to impress. Tickets start at $99, and a portion of ticket sales will benefit Austin Pets Alive.

‘80s NYC on NYE 2019

Take a step back in time at L’oca d’Oro’s New Year’s Eve dinner. The local Italian restaurant will transform into an ‘80s New York City-themed party for the night with dinner, drinks, and a DJ spinning ‘80s hip hop and new wave tunes. For $100, guests can enjoy dinner inspired by 1980s New York hip hop artists with dishes that include a mozzarella tower, dry-aged Peeler Ranch wagyu sirloin, and creme brûlée.
